Role Summary
A Strategic Communications Lead is a senior-level professional responsible for developing and executing strategic communication initiatives to support transformational programs within federal government agencies. This role involves close collaboration with senior leadership, managing stakeholder engagement efforts, and overseeing communication teams. The position requires a combination of strategic thinking, leadership, and exceptional communication skills to facilitate mission continuity and program transformation objectives effectively.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver executive briefing materials, memos, and talking points for internal and external audiences, emphasizing technical and operational program updates.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to program managers and senior leaders, providing thought partnership on strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Coordinate review processes for briefing materials with diverse government stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.
- Establish structure within large forums and briefing intake processes to support program transformation outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Manage daily activities of a communications team of two or more personnel, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate directly with government officials to produce impactful presentations, narrative stories, and supporting documentation for senior stakeholder meetings.
- Develop and present coherent, persuasive narratives that facilitate stakeholder understanding and buy-in.
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving sessions to address core program priorities and programmatic challenges.
- Engage with external government and industry stakeholders to convey key messages, set expectations, and foster positive working relationships.
- Monitor progress across multiple projects, prioritize activities, and allocate resources effectively to meet project goals and timelines.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of strategy, communications, or stakeholder engagement experience, preferably with federal government agencies such as the Department of Defense.
- At least 3 years of experience managing teams or leading projects within strategic communications.
- Educational background in strategy, business management, or communications; an advanced degree such as an MBA is preferred.
- Proven mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and visual presentations for executive audiences.
- Familiarity with DoD-approved generative AI tools for briefing outline creation is desirable.
- Working knowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies to understand product lifecycles and communicate effectively with technical teams.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Slack, and SharePoint.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired must verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Ability to obtain/maintain CAC.
Publishing Pay Range: $80.00 – 86.00 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
