Role Summary
The Field Support Specialist is a technical role focused on providing on-site IT support, project coordination, and infrastructure management at designated locations. This position requires immediate responsiveness to IT issues, facilitating hardware and software management, and supporting operational initiatives. It is a temporary contract position with the potential for permanent employment, supporting the organization’s IT operations primarily in field sites.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the single point of contact for all IT-related concerns at assigned sites, ensuring timely resolution and escalation as needed
- Support and troubleshoot hardware and software on desktops, laptops, and peripherals, including Microsoft Windows 10/11 and business applications
- Manage hardware inventory and promote IT standards across the site to ensure consistency and reliability
- Install, configure, and support network equipment such as Cisco routers, switches, and site-to-site VPNs, and assist with wireless solutions
- Conduct IT training sessions for end-users to enhance their ability to utilize IT equipment effectively
- Collaborate with IT teams to deploy upgrades, new hardware, and software, and assist with testing new solutions and projects
- Document incident resolutions and maintain detailed records within an IT knowledge base and ticketing system
- Provide after-hours support and respond to service requests promptly, managing a high-volume caseload
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on system configurations, inventory, and service activities
- Travel as needed, up to 80% of the time, for daily site visits and related activities within approximately 100 miles of Manvel, TX
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of relevant IT support experience, preferably within the Oil and Gas industry or related sectors
- Proven ability to support PC, LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless (Cisco preferred), and web-based applications
- Experience with Server 2019, Cisco routers and switches, and mobile device management (iOS, Android)
- Strong knowledge of printers, including HP LaserJet and MFPs
- Familiarity with ITSM software, ideally BMC Remedy
- Certified or working toward certifications such as A+, Net+, MCP, MCDST, or HDI Desktop Support Technician is highly desirable
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired must verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field preferred
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and manage physically demanding tasks
- Willingness to travel extensively, maintaining a clean driving record and reliable personal transportation
- Strong troubleshooting, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Publishing Pay Range: $33.00 – $37.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
