Role Summary

A ServiceNow Developer specializing in Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) solutions is sought to drive the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise asset management platforms. This mid to senior-level position requires extensive experience configuring ServiceNow modules, automating discovery processes, and establishing CMDB architectures. The role involves collaborating with IT teams to enhance asset lifecycle workflows, ensure compliance with industry standards, and deliver efficient service management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) solutions aligned with ITIL best practices.
  • Configure and optimize ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and auto-discovery processes across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Build, maintain, and evolve Configuration Management Database (CMDB) architecture, including CI relationships, data models, and reconciliation rules.
  • Develop workflows, business rules, UI policies, and scripts to streamline HAM processes within ServiceNow.
  • Manage asset lifecycle workflows, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement procedures.
  • Configure discovery patterns, probes, and sensors for accurate hardware inventory collection.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects and IT operations to define data standards, CMDB strategy, and governance policies.
  • Integrate ServiceNow with third-party tools using REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, and data imports.
  • Perform CMDB health assessments, data quality audits, and implement data normalization and reconciliation strategies.
  • Enable reporting, dashboards, and analytics using ServiceNow Performance Analytics to support asset management insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or 9 years’ experience with a high school diploma.
  • Minimum 5 years of ServiceNow development and administration experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow HAM and ITAM modules.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and CMDB configuration.
  • Strong scripting skills in JavaScript, Glide Script, and related ServiceNow scripting languages.
  • Proven experience implementing auto-discovery across diverse environments including Windows, Linux, network devices, and cloud platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of CMDB data models, CI relationships, and reconciliation engines.
  • Experience utilizing ServiceNow Integration Hub, REST/SOAP APIs, and data import tools.
  • Certified ServiceNow System Administrator (CSA); additional certifications in Discovery or ITAM modules preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a strong understanding of ITIL processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Desired Skills

  • Additional ServiceNow certifications such as CIS-Discovery, CIS-HAM, CIS-SAM, or Application Developer.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) and license management.
  • Knowledge of cloud discovery tools for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Git.
  • Experience with ServiceNow App Engine Studio and Flow Designer tools.
  • Knowledge of network discovery protocols including SNMP, WMI, SSH, and JDBC.
  • Understanding of IT asset management standards such as ISO 19770 and ITIL 4.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Event Management and operational intelligence.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management integration and CMDB relations.

Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 – $65.00 hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
