Role Summary

A senior-level Design Engineer position focused on leading systems engineering activities for advanced radio network implementations across numerous air traffic control facilities. The role involves designing, planning, and overseeing the deployment of large-scale radio communication infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety, technical, and operational standards. This position requires close coordination with government agencies, technical teams, and third-party contractors to deliver reliable, efficient communication systems.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive site surveys and perform radio network planning, including configurations, racks, and cable routings.
  • Create detailed site installation engineering packages, including drawings, bill of materials (BOM), installation steps, and schematics.
  • Develop system design documentation supporting site preparation, procurement, and installation activities.
  • Define system requirements and decompose system architectures to meet project specifications.
  • Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies for system modeling and documentation.
  • Perform trade-off analyses and technical evaluations to optimize system design and performance.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
  • Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and working groups across stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with field engineers, deployment teams, and project managers to ensure design alignment with operational needs.
  • Ensure all designs and engineering practices adhere to established standards, safety protocols, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6 years with a Master’s, or 3 years with a PhD; or 10+ years with an Associate’s degree.
  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Proven experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements management, system decomposition, and architecture design.
  • Strong familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform engineering trade studies and technical evaluations.
  • Prior experience providing technical leadership or mentorship within engineering teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of supporting technical reviews and working groups.
  • Experience supporting radio communication systems and telecommunications infrastructure is preferred.
  • Familiarity with site survey analysis and engineering documentation processes.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as SysML, UML, and CAD software.

Publishing Pay Range: $55.00 – $60.00 hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
