Role Summary
The Storage and Backup Engineer, AI-Enabled Automation, is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated workflows to enhance enterprise storage and backup services. This role focuses on transforming manual infrastructure processes into secure, self-service automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and reliability. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams across regions to ensure seamless implementation and handoffs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support automated workflows for enterprise storage and backup environments, including block, file, and object storage.
  • Automate storage provisioning, reclamation, volume expansion, key rotation, and other storage lifecycle activities.
  • Utilize AI-enabled automation tools to accelerate workflow development, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Convert operational procedures into self-service infrastructure workflows incorporating approvals, security controls, and capacity checks.
  • Develop conditional logic, task sequencing, return-code handling, exception paths, and automated notifications within workflows.
  • Integrate workflows with infrastructure platforms via APIs, scripts, connectors, or automation modules.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and maintain workflows to ensure successful production execution.
  • Apply appropriate governance, approvals, and security measures to AI-assisted automation solutions.
  • Document solutions comprehensively and facilitate effective handoffs between regional teams.
  • Collaborate with storage, backup, security, infrastructure, and change management teams to deliver reliable automation solutions.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in enterprise storage and backup engineering, including understanding of block, file, and object storage concepts.
  • Proven experience with storage provisioning, reclamation, expansion, and lifecycle management.
  • Practical knowledge of workflow orchestration and infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible, Python, PowerShell, or similar.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development or automation environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to workflows, error handling, and automation processes.
  • Familiarity with operating within enterprise change, security, and governance frameworks.
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to communicate effectively across regions.
  • Ability to learn new platforms and incorporate automation best practices.
  • Availability to work in a hybrid environment, combining remote and on-site work.

Publishing Pay Range: $68.11 – $72.02 hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
