Role Summary
This role involves engineering and supporting enterprise Windows virtual desktop environments using Horizon technology. The position requires responsibility for infrastructure design, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) platforms within a large organizational setting. Candidates should possess strong technical expertise in Windows desktop engineering and virtual desktop delivery, ensuring performance, security, and end-user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and support enterprise Windows virtual desktop environments utilizing Horizon and other VDI platforms.
  • Support migration and transition of workloads from existing VDI solutions to Horizon.
  • Build, configure, and maintain Windows 10/11 virtual desktop images and related desktop services.
  • Engineer and optimize desktop images, profiles, policies, and application configurations for performance and stability.
  • Configure and support Horizon components including Connection Servers, Horizon Agents, desktop pools, and infrastructure elements.
  • Troubleshoot complex VDI issues across desktops, applications, profiles, authentication, and infrastructure layers.
  • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows security configurations within the virtual desktop environment.
  • Collaborate with application, network, security, and infrastructure teams to resolve desktop-related issues.
  • Automate repetitive desktop engineering and operational tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize VDI performance, capacity, and user experience; produce documentation and operational procedures.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience in Windows desktop engineering, specifically Windows 10/11.
  • Extensive experience supporting and engineering enterprise VDI environments using platforms such as Horizon, Citrix, or Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Solid understanding of VDI architecture, desktop delivery, and related networking concepts.
  • Proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows security configurations.
  • Experience with Windows image creation, optimization, and lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshooting skills for desktop performance, application delivery, profiles, and authentication issues.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills with an automation-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking, including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and remote access.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various technical teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Availability for on-site work in a professional environment.

Publishing Pay Range: $74.13 – $78.24 hourly
