Role Summary
This role involves engineering and supporting enterprise-level Windows virtual desktop environments, with a focus on Horizon platform support. The position requires overseeing the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), ensuring optimal performance, stability, and end-user experience. It is a technical engineering position suitable for professionals with strong hands-on experience in Windows desktop and VDI environments.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and support enterprise Windows virtual desktop environments using Horizon platforms, including support for migration from existing VDI platforms.
  • Build, configure, and maintain Windows 10/11 virtual desktop images and related desktop services.
  • Engineer and optimize desktop images, profiles, policies, and application configurations to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Configure and support Horizon components such as Connection Servers, Horizon Agents, desktop pools, and associated infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to VDI, including desktop performance, application delivery, profiles, authentication, and infrastructure layers.
  • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows security configurations within the virtual desktop environment.
  • Collaborate with application, network, security, and infrastructure teams to resolve end-to-end desktop issues.
  • Automate repetitive desktop engineering and operational activities using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize VDI performance, capacity, and user experience.
  • Produce detailed engineering documentation, operational procedures, and implementation plans for ongoing support and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting and engineering Windows desktop environments, particularly Windows 10/11.
  • Proven expertise in managing enterprise VDI environments, including Horizon platforms.
  • Experience with at least one major VDI technology such as VMware Horizon, Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of VDI architecture, desktop delivery, and associated security practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows imaging processes.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting desktop performance, application issues, profiles, and authentication challenges.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation to streamline operations.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts relevant to VDI, including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and remote access.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective documentation and communication skills for operational procedures and technical documentation.

Publishing Pay Range: $74.13 – $78.24 hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
