Conduct license request reviews to ensure appropriate compliance with registration requirements. Initiate inquiries and prepare final action for senior staff approval. Update and maintain the State Department’s Watch List database of entities of concern, both to comply with the AECA and to support foreign policy implementation via arms export licensing. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Review license requests referred to from DTCL to ensure compliance with registration requirements.

• Initiate inquiries and obtain appropriate documentation from US parties or other program elements.

• Prepare final actions for senior staff approval.

• Update and maintain the State Department's Watch List database.

• Help identify and implement technical improvements to the system.

• Monitor team efforts, respond to workload shifts, and maintain high-quality work products.

• Coordinate and liaise with interagency non-proliferation and export control community on arms trafficking/proliferation matters.

• Coordinate with licensing offices on compliance and enforcement matters.

• Help coordinate plans and operations to prevent violations of US export laws and support remedial actions.

• Conduct proactive outreach to promote compliance with US export laws and regulations.

• Speak at government and industry conferences.

• Participate in Company Visit program activities.

• Respond to inquiries concerning compliance matters.

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested

  • Bachelor's Degree or combination of education and at least 2 years of regulatory compliance and ITAR experience
  • Good judgment and ability to work with supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to resolve disputes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills. Writing samples may be required.
  • Good organizational skills, including the ability to assist on multiple projects within established timeframes.
  • Ability to synthesize information and develop recommendations for management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and ability to operate office equipment.
  • May be required to travel within Domestic and/or International.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications and government background check.
