Job Description:
Our client is hiring a skilled and experienced Data Engineer III to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting our customers in the design, build, and operation of database infrastructure. The successful candidate will tackle complex problems and challenges to enhance the reliability and performance of the database environment. This position involves daily maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, tuning, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and user assistance to improve application database platforms. This is a technical role requiring a deep understanding of software programming, development, and database administration. The role is based on supporting a federal client, hence adherence to federal regulations, including the Federal Controlled Substance Act, is mandatory. All candidates will be subject to drug screening as part of the selection process.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain database platforms to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Investigate database-related problems, implement solutions, achieve efficiency gains, and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Define and champion database best practices within the organization.
  • Perform and/or automate routine database maintenance operations and tasks to ensure system integrity.
  • Improve and maintain the backup and recovery process to safeguard data.
  • Utilize database performance/modeling expertise in support of design, infrastructure, query analysis, security, and integrity issues.
  • Coordinate data integrity efforts and develop/maintain logical and physical data models.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate business requirements into data models.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to pass a customer background check for access to facilities and equipment.
  • Proficient in using a scripting language (such as Python) to automate database administration tasks.
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure cloud database technologies or equivalent (AWS, GCP).
  • Preferred certification at the Information Assurance Technical (IAT) I or II level (e.g., CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • DoD or Federal Government experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve database issues effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop strategies for improving database architecture.
  • Must adhere to all applicable federal regulations, including the Federal Controlled Substance Act.
