Role Summary
This Environmental Compliance Specialist IV position involves managing environmental compliance activities for dynamic power infrastructure projects throughout their lifecycle, including development, construction, commissioning, and operational handoff. The role requires translating permit conditions and environmental commitments into actionable plans, ensuring regulatory adherence, and supporting project teams in maintaining compliance standards. It offers an opportunity to lead complex compliance initiatives and collaborate across multiple departments to uphold environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve environmental compliance processes, procedures, plans, and tools.
  • Interpret permit conditions, regulatory requirements, and environmental commitments, converting them into clear compliance obligations for projects and contractors.
  • Coordinate environmental compliance planning, scheduling, and cost estimation, including inspections, monitoring, reporting, training, and record management.
  • Work closely with project teams, contractors, consultants, and field personnel to verify compliance performance and resolve issues proactively.
  • Lead or support environmental compliance programs with significant risks and complexity, ensuring adherence to permit conditions and regulatory standards.
  • Support agency coordination, audits, incident investigations, and the transition of environmental responsibilities to operational assets.
  • Verify that inspections, monitoring, documentation, reporting, and corrective actions are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Support field issue resolution and develop corrective and preventive actions to address compliance gaps.
  • Assist in the development of project-specific compliance plans, procedures, and compliance tools.
  • Foster stakeholder engagement and maintain communication with regulatory agencies and project teams to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of diverse environmental experience, including compliance management for energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement environmental compliance programs during construction and operational phases.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as a top priority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant PC skills.
  • Experience in permit-condition tracking, contractor oversight, agency coordination, and stakeholder engagement for complex projects is preferred.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable project tasks.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired must verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
