Role Summary
The Cable Technician position involves supporting the installation, testing, and documentation of structured cabling systems essential for ICT infrastructure. This role covers the full project lifecycle, from pathway preparation to system certification and project closeout, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as BICSI, ANSI/TIA, and NEC. The successful candidate will collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality cabling solutions in a commercial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Support the creation and update of as-built drawings and final documentation packages.
  • Ensure adherence to clearance, fill ratio, grounding, and firestopping requirements during installation.
  • Perform certification testing using tools such as Fluke or equivalent devices.
  • Label all infrastructure components according to TIA-606 standards.
  • Install and secure racks, cabinets, PDUs, and cable management systems.
  • Maintain required slack lengths (15 ft for WAOs, 25 ft for WAPs) for all cabling runs.
  • Terminate cables to patch panels and RJ45 jacks following the T568B standard.
  • Route cabling through J-hooks, ladder racks, conduit, and cable trays efficiently.
  • Install Cat6 and Cat6A plenum-rated cables, ensuring two drops per WAO and WAP location.

Qualifications

  • OSHA safety awareness and compliance.
  • Ability to interpret floor plans and cable schedules accurately.
  • Familiarity with TIA/EIA standards (568, 606, 607).
  • Experience utilizing cable certification testing tools such as Fluke.
  • Hands-on experience with Cat6 and Cat6A cabling installation and termination.
  • Minimum of three years of structured cabling experience in commercial environments.
  • Ability to work on-site consistently and reliably.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and safety consciousness.

Publishing Pay Range: $40.00 – $50.00 USD Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
