Role Summary
A Junior Network Engineer responsible for supporting network infrastructure updates and data center operations in a remote environment. The role involves coordinating maintenance activities with remote technicians, executing network cutovers, and assisting with equipment migrations during scheduled off-hours. This position requires strong communication skills and a foundational understanding of networking concepts to ensure smooth and efficient data center support.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineering team members to plan and review network modifications and maintenance schedules.
  • Lead and coordinate remotely with data center/cabling technicians during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Execute network cutovers, including transitioning from legacy systems to new infrastructure.
  • Remotely access and configure network devices to implement logical connection changes.
  • Validate connectivity and troubleshoot issues during and after migration activities.
  • Interpret network diagrams, floor plans, and documentation to optimize maintenance procedures.
  • Provide real-time virtual guidance to on-site technicians to ensure accurate execution of tasks.
  • Ensure all network changes comply with established procedures to minimize service disruptions.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and configuration changes.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts during live migrations and post-maintenance validation.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of networking concepts such as routing, switching, VLANs, and IP addressing.
  • Experience utilizing remote access tools and command-line interfaces for network device configuration.
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, physical layouts, and documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating remote team activities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures during off-hours maintenance.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in live network environments.
  • Prior experience supporting data center operations or cabling teams.
  • Familiarity with network migration and cutover processes.
  • Exposure to enterprise networking equipment, such as Cisco, Juniper, or Arista.
  • Understanding of change management practices in network environments.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 USD Hourly

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
