Role Summary

This position is a mid- to senior-level Consulting Engineer responsible for delivering enterprise networking solutions with a focus on Catalyst Switching, Catalyst Center, and routing technologies. The role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing complex network infrastructures for a key customer, supporting hybrid cloud and automation initiatives. It requires on-site presence in Austin, TX, approximately 2-3 days per week, with a focus on project execution and technical leadership throughout the customer lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and deployment of advanced Cisco enterprise networking solutions, including Catalyst switches, Catalyst Center, MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VXLAN, and VRF.
  • Provide on-site and remote consulting services to support customer network optimization and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and client stakeholders to develop tailored network solutions aligned with customer business objectives.
  • Guide the implementation of automation and programmability using Cisco technologies such as Python and Ansible.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues, providing strategic and technical resolutions promptly.
  • Conduct technical workshops, product demonstrations, and proof of concepts to facilitate customer adoption of Cisco solutions.
  • Lead or participate in large-scale enterprise network design and deployment projects, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget constraints.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Cisco enterprise products, industry best practices, and emerging networking trends.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling, renewal, and expanding Cisco service offerings within the customer environment.
  • Document design, configuration, and implementation processes, and create technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in customer-centric network solution design, deployment, and support.
  • Relevant Cisco certifications, with at least one or more of CCIE (Enterprise, Security, or Data Center preferred), CCNP, CCNA, and Cisco DevNet certification.
  • Strong proficiency in Cisco Catalyst Switches, Catalyst Center, Routing and Switching protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF), MPLS, VXLAN, LISP, and VRF.
  • Demonstrated expertise in automation and programmability using Python, Ansible, and related tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco SD-Access (SDA), Cisco ISE, and wireless technologies (desirable).
  • Proven consulting skills, with the ability to influence technical and business decisions at senior levels.
  • Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX, approximately two to three days per week.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Publishing Pay Range: $65.00 – $70.00 Hourly

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, combining on-site customer engagement with remote work.
