Role Summary
This on-site drafting role requires a skilled Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Draftsperson to support the development and revision of technical and architectural drawings for critical government infrastructure projects. The position involves creating precise engineering documentation to assist in the deployment of Air-to-Ground radio communication systems at air traffic control centers nationwide. The successful candidate will ensure all drawings adhere to federal standards and support seamless project execution within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain technical drawings and as-built records using CAD software and manual drafting techniques.
- Ensure all engineering and architectural drawings comply with federal standards and documentation policies, including Order 6000.55 and STD-002.
- Translate field survey data, engineering notes, and design specifications into accurate technical documentation.
- Maintain drawing libraries, manage version control, and ensure proper configuration management of engineering documents.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to incorporate updates and revisions into drawings.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established standards.
- Identify potential discrepancies or design issues in existing documentation and recommend corrective actions.
- Support engineering teams during project design, installation planning, and documentation updates.
- Assist in verifying that technical drawings meet formatting, documentation, and technical standards.
- Contribute to documentation efforts supporting federal infrastructure programs, aligning with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a master's degree; or equivalent experience (e.g., 7 years with an associate degree).
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Proven experience developing technical drawings using CAD tools, preferably AutoCAD.
- Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.
- Demonstrated ability to produce precise technical drawings and review documentation for errors or discrepancies.
- Familiarity with engineering, architectural, or manufacturing terminology, symbols, and standards.
- Experience supporting federal infrastructure or telecommunications projects is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) or Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) are advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment supporting engineering and construction teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Publishing Pay Range: $40.00 – $43.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
