NEXCOM Computer-Aided Design Draftsperson
Role Summary
This position involves creating and revising technical and architectural drawings to support the design, installation, and documentation of Air-to-Ground radio communication equipment within a government facility. The role requires a detail-oriented CAD Draftsperson with experience in engineering or infrastructure environments, contributing to a critical federal program. The individual will work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to ensure accuracy and compliance with strict standards. This role offers a hybrid work schedule, combining onsite presence at the government facility with remote work flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain accurate technical and as-built drawings for air-ground communication infrastructure projects.
- Use CAD software tools, primarily AutoCAD, and manual drafting methods to produce precise engineering drawings.
- Ensure all drawings adhere to federal standards, including Order 6000.55 and STD-002, maintaining compliance and documentation integrity.
- Translate field survey data, engineering notes, and design specifications into detailed technical drawings.
- Manage drawing libraries, version control, and configuration management of engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to incorporate design updates and revisions in drawings.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards and project requirements.
- Identify discrepancies or potential issues within drawings and recommend corrective actions.
- Support project planning, installation, and documentation updates through precise drafting and verification.
- Assist troubleshooting and resolving design discrepancies during project execution and documentation phases.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 3 years with a master’s degree; additional experience may substitute for formal education.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Proven experience developing technical drawings within engineering, telecommunications, or infrastructure sectors using CAD tools, preferably AutoCAD.
- Strong proficiency with CAD software, including 3D modeling and BIM tools.
- Demonstrated ability to produce precise technical drawings and verify documentation accuracy.
- Familiarity with engineering, architectural, or manufacturing symbols, standards, and terminology.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for managing drawing libraries and documentation versions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and field personnel.
- Knowledge of federal infrastructure project standards is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) or Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) are advantageous.
Publishing Pay Range: $40.00 – $45.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
