Role Summary
A Senior Piping Designer will oversee and facilitate the design, drafting, and development of piping systems for complex industrial projects. This role involves detailed technical work, coordination with project teams and vendors, and ensuring compliance with project scope, standards, and schedules. The Senior Piping Designer is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and documentation to support the successful completion of engineering and construction activities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), equipment layouts, and facility plot plans for construction projects.
- Assign equipment, instrument, valve tagging numbers, and piping line numbers to ensure clear identification across project documents.
- Resolve drawing development issues and update record drawings to accurately reflect project modifications.
- Assist in the development of project, engineering/design, and construction scopes of work to facilitate contract negotiations with third-party vendors.
- Attend project meetings to gather technical input, understand scope requirements, and provide design solutions aligned with customer needs.
- Coordinate the distribution of design packages among stakeholders to ensure comprehensive input and information exchange.
- Generate material take-offs, parts lists, and data sheets, and communicate with vendors for material quotes and availability.
- Maintain and update technical documentation and standard drawings, ensuring compliance with company standards and best practices.
- Support project teams by providing timely drafting and design services, including preliminary project development.
- Collaborate with project managers, procurement, construction teams, and engineering staff on design and logistical issues to promote linear project progress.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in piping design, drafting, and development within industrial or engineering project environments.
- Strong knowledge of piping, instrument, and equipment layouts, with proficiency in CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar).
- Ability to interpret and develop complex process and piping diagrams (PFDs, P&IDs).
- Excellent coordination and communication skills to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to develop scope documents, material take-offs, and technical data sheets.
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards related to piping and instrumentation systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to work on-site at project locations as required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Availability to work full-time and must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 – $65.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
