Role Summary
This senior IT service delivery role is responsible for overseeing the operational technology and scientific lab environments within a research and development setting. The position requires strategic leadership in managing IT infrastructure, supporting lab systems, and ensuring seamless service delivery aligned with ITIL practices. The role involves coordinating technical teams and vendors to implement secure, scalable solutions that support innovation and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Own day to day IT service delivery for R&D labs, including incident, request, problem, and change management aligned to ITIL processes with SLA accountability.
  • Serve as the site technologist, translating R&D strategic objectives into robust lab and shop-floor IT solutions.
  • Lead technical teams and vendors to ensure the successful implementation of system solutions, providing technical guidance even if not directly hands on.
  • Support and maintain lab infrastructure, including networks, servers, backups, and system baselines, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and support lab instrumentation, workstations, segmented/ICE networks, firewalls, and IT/OT integration efforts.
  • Provide technical oversight for Linux based environments and support cross-domain operations and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—Lab Operations, Quality, Engineering, Cybersecurity—to deliver solutions that meet business needs and compliance standards.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to provide transparency on service status, issues, and resolutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through standardization, automation, and process optimization.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as runbooks, knowledge articles, and process documentation to ensure consistent service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in IT service delivery or operations within R&D, scientific, or operational technology environments.
  • In depth knowledge of networking, firewalls, segmented/ICE environments, and lab infrastructure.
  • Experience with ITIL based service management tools such as ServiceNow and Jira.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate technical teams and vendors, both onsite and remote.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect systems and guide teams toward effective solutions.
  • Experience supporting lab instrument systems and infrastructure, including instrument workstations and lab PCs.
  • Familiarity with regulated processes including audits, CAPAs, deviations, and change control.
  • Ability to support Linux based systems and provide broad technical guidance across multiple domains.

Publishing Pay Range: $48.72 – $52.19 hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
