Senior Systems Engineer
Role Summary
This position supports Low Code Application Platform and Software as a Service (SaaS) governance for a government software division. The role focuses on establishing governance standards, managing SaaS solutions throughout their lifecycle, and supporting security and compliance requirements.
The position requires technical expertise in enterprise SaaS environments and collaboration across development, security, legal, procurement, and platform teams to help ensure deployed applications meet established operational and security standards. This role operates in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in defining and implementing the enterprise SaaS governance framework, including policies, lifecycle management, and standards.
- Establish and maintain a centralized SaaS catalog, including application details, ownership, and risk profiles.
- Lead evaluations of new SaaS requests, coordinating security, compliance, legal, and operational reviews prior to approval.
- Collaborate with security and legal teams to track cybersecurity-related requests and manage authorization artifacts.
- Define and support role-based access control (RBAC), least-privilege principles, and access audits.
- Automate and oversee user provisioning and deprovisioning processes.
- Monitor and report on SaaS system costs, user statistics, and capacity metrics.
- Support application lifecycle activities, including intake, approval, renewal, and retirement.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for cross-functional teams across development, security, procurement, and platform deployment.
- Support compliance with operational standards and facilitate discussions to identify and reduce unauthorized or unmanaged technology solutions, including shadow IT.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 12 years of relevant IT experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, or CCNA Security, as applicable to the position.
- At least 3 years of experience working with Jira.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and senior leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination.
- Experience working with SaaS or Low Code Application Platforms within the federal government is preferred.
- Familiarity with government software pipelines, division benchmarks, or shared data systems is preferred.
Publishing Pay Range: USD $106,000.00 – USD $136,000.00 annually
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between working remotely and in the office.
