Role Summary
A junior-level SQL Developer contractor is needed to support development, maintenance, and data engineering efforts for a critical federal data ingestion project. The role involves working within an Agile team to design, implement, and maintain cloud-based data solutions, primarily utilizing SQL and AWS cloud services. The position offers a blend of on-site and remote work, supporting high-volume, mission-critical financial data processes essential to government regulatory systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within an Agile team to support data migration and deployment activities in AWS cloud environments.
- Develop, test, and implement SQL-based solutions on AWS cloud databases.
- Gather requirements from clients and team members to define project scope and objectives.
- Conduct routine data validation and perform quality checks on developed solutions.
- Assist in database planning, design, and implementation to support project needs.
- Contribute to systems analysis, design, and deployment activities.
- Conduct code reviews and support deployment of solutions into cloud environments.
- Provide regular status updates on project progress and deliverables through Agile frameworks and weekly reports.
- Support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of data pipelines and cloud databases.
- Ensure compliance with security and data management standards relevant to federal projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 7 years of experience.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud database services such as SQL Server.
- Experience with programming languages including Python and XML.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required (able to obtain CFTC clearance prior to starting).
- Strong understanding of SQL development, data ingestion, and cloud-based database management.
- Ability to work effectively within an Agile development environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for team collaboration and progress reporting.
- Availability to work on-site at the Washington, DC facility three days a week.
Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
