Role Summary
Seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator specializing in Storage, Backup, Virtualization, and Windows Active Directory. This role involves managing complex storage and backup systems, VMware virtualization environments, and Active Directory services across multiple sites. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, combining in-office collaboration with remote productivity, to support the organization’s IT infrastructure and disaster recovery strategies.
Responsibilities
- Manage all storage and backup systems, including Dell/EMC Unity storage arrays, Dell IDPA, and Rubrik backup solutions.
- Oversee on-premises storage and backup environments, ensuring daily operational reporting and test restores of data.
- Optimize SAN storage for VMware environments and perform regular performance monitoring and health analysis.
- Maintain hardware firmware and patch levels to ensure system reliability and security.
- Enhance storage, backup, and virtualization performance through strategic recommendations and implementations.
- Monitor and manage data replication, disaster recovery processes, and improve backup strategies.
- Develop and document procedures, standards, and best practices for storage, backup, and virtualization environments.
- Collaborate with the DBA team for database backup integrity and consistency.
- Lead medium to high complexity projects related to storage and virtualization while adhering to budgets and timelines.
- Interface with vendors and support teams to evaluate and implement hardware, software, and service solutions, including after-hours support rotation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least ten years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with seven years of experience.
- Proven hands-on experience managing VMware virtual infrastructures, storage, backup environments, and Windows Active Directory.
- Deep understanding of Active Directory, DNS, and core Windows services.
- Experience with EMC Unity, NetApp, and HPE ProLiant servers.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement enterprise-wide virtual infrastructures using ESXi v8/v9.
- Skilled in vendor collaboration, troubleshooting, and automation scripting (PowerShell, Perl, VBS).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver results on time.
- Relevant certifications in Storage, Backup, Microsoft, VMware, or ITIL are preferred.
Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 USD Hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
