Systems Engineer
GDH Consulting is hiring a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in monitoring, maintaining, and improving our production environment which includes a wide range of network devices and services. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in network engineering, with a focus on security, performance, and reliability. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong emphasis on communication and teamwork. The role is based on a contract with a prime focus on federal projects, requiring the candidate to be a US Citizen and able to obtain Public Trust.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain a production environment, including routers, switches, load balancers, and various network management tools.
- Implement and manage network security measures, ensuring the integrity and performance of the network.
- Install, configure, and maintain network services, storage networking devices, and server systems.
- Plan and execute network and security changes, collaborating with engineering teams for improvements.
- Coordinate and perform installations of copper and fiber optic cabling, maintaining documentation and compliance with client standards.
- Provide escalation support, participating in on-call rotation, and certifying solutions before production deployment.
- Work closely with vendors to resolve issues and manage platform upgrades.
- Maintain communication closets and equipment racks, ensuring organized and efficient network infrastructure.
- 3-5 years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.
- Proficient in installing, cabling, and configuring network equipment.
- Solid understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MP-BGP, IS-IS) and MPLS VPN technologies.
- Experience with network security practices, including audits, planning, design, implementation, and management.
- Familiarity with networking and application protocols, as well as network monitoring tools (SNMP, NetFlow).
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Desired certifications: CCNA, AWS Cloud Practitioner.
- Candidates should demonstrate stability in their work history, avoiding frequent job changes.
