Role Summary
A senior-level Design Engineer is needed to lead systems engineering activities supporting the development and deployment of large-scale radio communication networks within federal aviation infrastructure. This role focuses on designing, planning, and overseeing the installation of radio network equipment across numerous air traffic control centers. The position demands technical leadership, in-depth system knowledge, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to ensure reliable and compliant communication solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale radio network planning, including conducting site surveys and developing network configurations.
- Create detailed site installation engineering packages, including drawings, BOMs, installation procedures, and schematics.
- Develop comprehensive system design packages to facilitate site preparation, procurement, and installation activities.
- Define system requirements, decompose systems, and support architecture development aligned with operational goals.
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to model, analyze, and document technical systems.
- Perform trade-off analyses to optimize system design, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, junior engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with field engineering teams, deployment contractors, and program management to ensure design accuracy and implementation fidelity.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and program-specific requirements.
- Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and working groups to promote shared understanding and alignment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s; or 3 years with a Doctorate; or 10+ years with an Associate’s degree.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Proven experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements development, system decomposition, and architecture design.
- Demonstrated proficiency in applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform technical trade studies and evaluations.
- Experience providing technical mentorship and leading engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support technical reviews and collaborative discussions.
- Familiarity with site survey analysis, radio communication systems, and telecommunications infrastructure is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with engineering tools such as SysML, UML, and CAD software is advantageous.
Publishing Pay Range: $55.00 – $60.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
