Role Summary
This position involves providing technical leadership and hands-on support for the integration and migration of telecommunications infrastructure within mission-critical environments. The role requires expertise in fiber and IP-based systems, guiding both the design and deployment of complex network solutions that support the national airspace system. The successful candidate will mentor field teams, manage system validation, and ensure reliability standards are met across regional deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, integration, and testing of telecommunications systems supporting critical mission networks.
  • Oversee the migration of legacy TDM circuits to modern fiber and IP-based systems, ensuring seamless cutovers and thorough performance validation.
  • Assess technical requirements, identify design adjustments, and communicate updates to engineering teams.
  • Provide hands-on support with network protocols, hardware troubleshooting, and infrastructure deployment across multiple sites.
  • Monitor system performance using dashboards and KPIs to ensure network reliability, resilience, and operational standards are maintained.
  • Develop technical documentation, status reports, and briefings for stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Support cross-functional teams during system upgrades, troubleshooting, and testing initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with mission-critical network protocols and standards, including protocols relevant to FAA and government operations.
  • Manage project timelines and technical deliverables for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Travel regionally to support multiple locations, with expenses reimbursed.

Qualifications

  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; or 8+ years of relevant experience in telecommunications network engineering.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with fiber optic networking, telecommunications hardware, and infrastructure deployment.
  • Deep understanding of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, IPv6, and TDM-to-IP migration processes.
  • Proven ability to model network growth, optimize capacity, and support large-scale system upgrades.
  • Experience in mission-critical communications, including ground networks and air-to-ground systems.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and validation skills in complex networking environments.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear technical updates and stakeholder briefings.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to support multiple locations.

Publishing Pay Range: $79.00 – $84.00 hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
