Role Summary
The Systems Integration Engineer SME Telecommunications is responsible for leading the physical and logical integration of fiber and IP-based circuits within the National Airspace System (NAS). This senior technical role involves mentoring field teams while performing hands-on system design, deployment, and optimization. The position focuses on supporting legacy-to-IP migration projects, ensuring system reliability, and providing technical guidance across multiple regional locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, integration, and testing of telecommunications systems supporting the NAS.
  • Convert architecture drawings into practical IP network solutions and oversee implementation activities.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of network infrastructure projects, including planning, deployment, and cutover of TDM to IP systems.
  • Assess system requirements, identify design modifications, and communicate technical updates to engineering teams.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware and network protocol issues during multi-state deployments.
  • Monitor network performance using dashboards and KPIs, ensuring it meets reliability standards essential for mission-critical aviation data.
  • Develop clear status updates, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Support infrastructure validation activities, including testing, validation, and acceptance of fiber optic and IP network solutions.
  • Provide technical mentorship to service team members and support operational data analysis for performance improvements.
  • Support travel across regional locations; expenses will be reimbursed.

Qualifications

  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
  • Deep technical knowledge of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, IPv6, and experience with fiber optic networks and telecom hardware.
  • Proven experience in network modeling, capacity planning, and system upgrades.
  • Familiarity with ground and air-to-ground telecommunication systems used in aviation.
  • Strong project management skills supporting large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
  • Preferred certifications include CCNA, CCIE, AWS Solutions Architect, INCOSE ASEP, PMP, and relevant FAA or government network standards familiarity.
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

Publishing Pay Range: $79.00 – $84.00 Hourly 
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
