Role Summary
A skilled Network Engineer specializing in Unified Communications (UC) is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise voice, video, messaging, and collaboration services. This role requires collaborating with various technical teams to ensure reliable, secure, and high-quality communication solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms. The position involves managing a range of UC platforms, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring system performance and security.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, configure, and support UC platforms including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Webex, and Microsoft Teams Phone.
- Support enterprise voice services such as SIP trunks, PSTN connectivity, Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and cloud calling solutions.
- Configure dial plans, route patterns, calling policies, hunt groups, auto attendants, call queues, and voicemail systems.
- Manage Microsoft Teams voice features via the Teams Admin Center and PowerShell.
- Troubleshoot voice, video, messaging, and collaboration issues across LAN, WAN, internet, and cloud environments.
- Analyze call quality metrics using diagnostic tools such as latency, jitter, packet loss, MOS, and QoS parameters.
- Configure and maintain network services supporting real-time communications, including QoS, VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and firewalls.
- Support hardware and software components like voice gateways, SIP trunks, SBCs, desk phones, conference-room systems, headsets, and soft clients.
- Manage user provisioning, licensing, migrations, onboarding, and offboarding for calling and collaboration services.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, availability, and call quality; perform upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management.
- Coordinate incident response, root-cause analysis, change management, and problem resolution.
- Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, dial plans, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with carriers and vendors to resolve service issues and participate in an on-call rotation for critical incident support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, networking, telecommunications, or equivalent professional experience.
- Three or more years supporting enterprise networking or unified communications environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco collaboration technologies including CUCM, Unity Connection, Webex, CUBE, and voice gateways.
- Expertise in managing Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, Direct Routing, or Operator Connect.
- Proficiency in SIP, RTP, SRTP, SDP, TLS, codecs, dial plans, and PSTN integrations.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Experience troubleshooting voice and connectivity issues through packet captures, call logs, and monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with identity management, authentication, certificates, and cloud service integrations.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and incident management skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
