Role Summary
A Windows Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for supporting and optimizing enterprise Windows infrastructure, including server and endpoint management, operating system engineering, and automation initiatives. This senior-level role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining Windows Server environments, gold images, and automation frameworks to ensure secure, scalable, and highly automated platform solutions. Collaborating closely with infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams, the SME drives modernization, security enhancements, and operational efficiency across enterprise Windows platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and support enterprise Windows Server environments, including critical infrastructure components.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize Windows gold images for servers and virtual desktops.
  • Perform operating system deployments, upgrades, patching, and vulnerability management.
  • Troubleshoot complex OS, performance, and infrastructure issues to ensure system stability and security.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and security configurations for Windows environments.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) for software distribution, compliance, and endpoint lifecycle management.
  • Develop and implement automation solutions using PowerShell and scripting to streamline operational processes.
  • Lead large-scale Windows server and workstation deployments, migrations, and modernization projects.
  • Collaborate on cloud migration projects, data center transformations, and security remediation programs.
  • Develop operational procedures, architecture documentation, and deployment runbooks to ensure best practices and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of enterprise Windows administration experience.
  • Proven expertise supporting Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 environments.
  • Extensive experience managing Windows gold images, OS deployment, and patching processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
  • Experience supporting large-scale server and endpoint infrastructure environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, documentation, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Availability to work remotely in an approved location.

Publishing Pay Range: $105,000.00 – $120,000.00 Annually 

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
