Role Summary
The Linux Administrator will support multi-cloud infrastructure for enterprise cloud development, ensuring stability, performance, and security across Linux environments. This role is responsible for managing Linux servers deployed in both virtual and cloud-based settings, with hands-on support for automation, monitoring, and hardening. The position operates at a Tier 2/3 support level and includes participation in an on-call rotation. The scope spans multiple cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers across physical and virtual environments (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, and related distributions)
- Perform regular system updates, patch management, and kernel upgrades
- Deploy, configure, and manage Linux-based infrastructure across AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP
- Use cloud-native tools and services to monitor, scale, and automate Linux workloads
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, and other relevant scripting languages
- Apply configuration management practices using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate provisioning and configuration
- Implement and manage monitoring solutions to ensure high availability and performance
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Linux servers and applications
- Ensure systems comply with security standards through regular audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation
- Implement backup and recovery solutions and regularly test disaster recovery processes
Qualifications
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Bachelors degree with four (4) years or more of related experience, or Masters degree with two (2) or more years of related experience
- Proven experience managing Linux environments across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP)
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including CentOS, Ubuntu, and Red Hat
- Experience with cloud services including AWS EC2, S3, VPC; Azure VMs, Blob Storage, Virtual Network; OCI Compute, Block Volumes, Networking; and GCP Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC
- Proficiency with Bash and Python (or equivalent scripting experience)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools, including Ansible Core/Tower/AAP/Galaxy, Puppet, or Chef
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and/or Azure Monitor
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001)
- Experience performing vulnerability remediation and server hardening, including DISA STIGs
Publishing Pay Range: $43.00 – 45.00 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
