Role Summary
This role involves managing and supporting large-scale Linux infrastructure within a data center environment. The candidate will be responsible for handling operational tasks, troubleshooting hardware issues, and ensuring the smooth functioning of network and system services. The position requires autonomous work, technical decision-making, and participation in site build-out activities with automated and repetitive processes.
Responsibilities
- Triaging hardware errors and diagnosing issues on Linux-based servers.
- Coordinating RMA processes with data center operations teams.
- Monitoring system dashboards and addressing operational issues proactively.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading diverse hardware infrastructure.
- Supporting deployment, automation, and maintenance of Linux infrastructure supporting data center networks.
- Analyzing system and POST error logs to identify hardware or software issues.
- Managing BIOS/UEFI configurations and utilizing hardware diagnostic utilities.
- Participating in site build-out projects, focusing on automated and repetitive tasks.
- Implementing and managing monitoring systems such as Prometheus, Librenms, or Grafana.
- Contributing to cross-functional shared services environments with a focus on reliability and performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience administering Ubuntu/Debian-based servers in a production environment.
- Proven troubleshooting and hardware repair skills.
- Strong knowledge of hardware diagnostics, BIOS/UEFI, and system logs.
- Experience with PXE boot, DCIM, and monitoring systems like Prometheus or Grafana.
- Relevant education, training, certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Linux infrastructure automation and deployment.
- Ability to work independently and make technical decisions.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work remotely with the ability to support operational needs as required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $63.00 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
