Role Summary
The Field Electrical Engineer plays a vital role in providing on-site electrical support during construction of a large industrial compressor station. This position involves execution-phase support, interface management, and ensuring electrical system readiness in a dynamic construction environment. The engineer will coordinate with multiple teams to ensure electrical installations comply with project standards and NEC regulations, facilitating seamless integration of electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Act as the owner’s on-site electrical representative, supporting construction management, inspectors, and project teams.
- Oversee daily electrical installation activities to ensure adherence to IFC drawings, schematics, vendor documentation, project standards, and NEC requirements.
- Verify field electrical installations, including routing, grounding, bonding, equipment placement, and clearance verification.
- Identify constructability issues early and coordinate resolution to mitigate rework and schedule risks.
- Manage electrical RFIs, field questions, and technical clarifications, ensuring deviations follow formal processes and tracking issue resolution to completion.
- Support installation and integration of EMD-related electrical scope, including cable tray routing and interface coordination.
- Provide field support for temporary or interim power systems, including generators and power bridges, ensuring proper installation, grounding, and integration.
- Maintain NEC compliance, verifying grounding, equipment labeling, conductor sizing, and temporary power connections, and supporting a strong electrical safety culture.
- Maintain accurate redlines, as-builts, and documentation such as electrical punch lists, test records, and turnover packages.
- Support schedule management by identifying electrical constraints, evaluating change orders, and coordinating equipment readiness.
- Coordinate daily with construction teams, vendors, engineering, and subcontractors to resolve electrical issues and ensure project alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with hands-on electrical construction experience.
- Practical experience supporting electrical installations in industrial or energy facility projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EMD or large rotating equipment electrical systems.
- Experience with temporary power systems and on-site power generation.
- Working knowledge of NEC, with ability to apply code requirements field-wide.
- Proven track record managing RFIs, redlines, punch lists, and turnover documentation.
- Ability to work full-time on a construction site and effectively communicate with contractors, inspectors, and project leadership.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve electrical issues in real-time.
- Valid work authorization to work in the country of employment.
Publishing Pay Range: $40.00 – $53.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
