Role Summary
This position involves managing and maintaining critical facilities infrastructure within a regional air traffic management environment. The role requires overseeing physical systems, ensuring operational uptime, and coordinating security protocols across multiple locations in the Kansas City, MO area. The successful candidate will support long-term assignments, including travel to various sites, and will be involved in installation, maintenance, and security oversight to uphold the safety and efficiency of national airspace systems.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize physical facilities including generators, HVAC systems, racks, cabling, and security equipment to ensure high system availability.
- Oversee vendor escort procedures, monitoring unscreened visitors and contractors to safeguard critical infrastructure.
- Lead installation, testing, and ongoing maintenance of telecommunications hardware such as switches, routers, and fiber-optic cabling.
- Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on critical DC power systems, rectifiers, and battery backups to support continuous operations.
- Review technical design documents and contractor work for compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Support regulatory adherence by implementing safety and physical security protocols in facilities management.
- Coordinate travel across the region to support multiple sites, with expenses reimbursed and flexibility for short or long-distance travel.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, maintenance activities, and inspection records.
- Assist in the planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades and new installations as needed.
- Support security monitoring and access control measures to protect sensitive infrastructure and restricted areas.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain FAA suitability clearance.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities engineering or management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, power distribution, cabling standards, and physical infrastructure management.
- Experience reviewing technical designs and ensuring contractor compliance with standards.
- Familiarity with safety and regulatory frameworks for critical infrastructure, including physical security standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel regionally as required for site support and maintenance activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FAA programs, NAS systems, or air traffic control environments.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or certifications in facility or building management.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices, LEED standards, or energy-efficient systems.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
Publishing Pay Range: $49.00 – $53.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
