Role Summary
The Network Installer is responsible for supporting and maintaining network infrastructure critical to aviation systems, with a focus on ensuring network performance, security, and reliability. This is a long-term role that involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise-level network components, including fiber optic systems and wireless networks. The position offers opportunities to work within federal programs supporting air traffic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the uptime, performance, and security of FAA network infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
  • Support SD-WAN solutions across distributed environments.
  • Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling, including single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
  • Perform fiber testing using OTDR and certification tools.
  • Monitor network systems daily, analyze logs, and respond to incidents promptly.
  • Troubleshoot network issues across fiber, SD-WAN, and IP layers, escalating as needed.
  • Support network cutovers, migrations, and failover validation processes.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configuration records.
  • Support regional travel to multiple locations, with expenses reimbursed as needed.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise network environments.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.
  • Experience with TDM-to-IP migrations and modern IP-based networks.
  • Solid understanding of SD-WAN, fiber optics, and wireless LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Familiarity with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network monitoring tools.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams and schematics.
  • Experience with fiber testing tools such as OTDR.

Publishing Pay Range: $66.00 – $71.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
