Field Services Technician
Role Summary
A Senior Field Services Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, transition, and maintenance of next-generation Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems. This role involves end-to-end oversight of site preparation, system cutover, and decommissioning processes within operational environments. The position demands an experienced technician capable of working independently, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and coordinating effectively with customers to ensure seamless voice system upgrades with minimal operational disruption. This position is fully remote with extensive travel requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support site surveys, site preparation, and system installation activities for voice communication systems.
- Execute and support VCS system cutovers from legacy platforms to next-generation systems.
- Perform decommissioning of outdated voice communication equipment and systems.
- Conduct system testing and validation, including power installation compliance, cabling integrity, and equipment specifications.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair VCS hardware and supporting telecom/IT infrastructure.
- Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve voice, network, and hardware faults efficiently.
- Support preventive maintenance and conduct system health checks to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide on-site customer support, including end-user orientation and training as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of technical procedures, service reports, and system cutover records.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, program managers, and other technicians during deployment activities to ensure project goals are met.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 3 years with a Master’s degree; no experience required with a PhD.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Hands-on experience with Voice Communication Switch (VCS) or similar mission-critical voice platforms.
- Proven support experience during system cutovers, migrations, or technology refresh initiatives.
- Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, VoIP technologies, cabling standards, and power validation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and expertise with diagnostic tools in field environments.
- Familiarity with operational environments where uptime and system reliability are critical.
- Excellent technical problem-solving skills and customer service abilities.
- Effective communication skills and the capacity to work independently in remote field locations.
- Strong documentation and reporting discipline, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet deployment deadlines.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative approach across technical disciplines.
Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 – $65.00 hourly
This position offers a remote work environment with extensive travel support, primarily supporting operational and technical sites in active operational environments.
