Financial Data Analyst
The Securities Services Operations & Financial Data Analyst I is responsible for supporting transactional processing and financial data analysis for Wealth Management accounts using trust and bond accounting systems. This role combines securities operations expertise with financial reporting, reconciliation, and data analysis responsibilities to ensure accurate account maintenance, transaction processing, and business insights.
The position focuses on analyzing transaction data, identifying trends and discrepancies, supporting financial reporting, improving operational workflows, and providing actionable insights that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and risk management. The analyst will collaborate with internal business partners, external vendors, brokers, and operational teams to maintain data integrity and support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Perform timely and accurate processing of securities transactions while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Analyze transaction activity, account performance, and operational data to identify trends, variances, exceptions, and opportunities for improvement.
- Reconcile daily activity between depositories, accounting systems, and financial records to ensure data accuracy and prevent discrepancies or financial loss.
- Develop recurring and ad hoc reports that provide operational, financial, and risk-related insights to management and business partners.
- Facilitate domestic and international fund movements while validating data accuracy and ensuring timely settlement.
- Utilize financial data, securities processing knowledge, and system tools to define, measure, analyze, and optimize operational workflows.
- Support financial reporting, account valuation activities, and performance monitoring through detailed data analysis and validation.
- Investigate and resolve complex reconciliation breaks, transaction exceptions, and data discrepancies with a focus on root-cause analysis.
- Create dashboards, reporting metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational effectiveness and service quality.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives by leveraging data analytics to identify efficiencies, strengthen controls, and reduce operational risk.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory reporting through accurate data extraction, analysis, documentation, and issue resolution.
- Assist with trust and bond account conversions, system implementations, testing activities, and project initiatives by providing analytical support and data validation.
- Document procedures, reporting methodologies, and operational workflows to support consistency and business continuity.
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions for operational challenges and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in securities operations, financial analysis, business analysis, data analytics, banking, wealth management, or a similar high-volume financial environment preferred.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify meaningful insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and reporting functions.
- Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, variance analysis, and data validation preferred.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar business intelligence and reporting tools is a plus.
- Understanding of securities processing systems, Wealth Management operations, trust accounting, and bond accounting principles preferred.
- Excellent research, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high levels of data accuracy and integrity.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present analytical findings and complex information clearly to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement data-driven solutions.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $28.00 to $31.64 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
