Role Summary
This senior-level Instrumentation & Electrical Designer role involves managing project design and drafting activities for industrial facilities. The position requires coordinating technical design efforts, developing detailed drawings, and ensuring project compliance with industry standards and company procedures. The successful candidate will support multiple phases of project execution, from concept development to construction documentation.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate project design, drafting management, and ensure adherence to industry and company standards.
- Assign electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers, conduit, and cable identifiers.
- Resolve drawing development issues and update record drawings as necessary.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), equipment layouts, and facility plot plans.
- Assist in creating project, engineering, and construction scopes of work for third-party contracts.
- Attend project meetings to understand customer needs and contribute technical input for effective designs.
- Review work schedules and man hour estimates to optimize project efficiency.
- Coordinate the distribution of design packages to ensure stakeholder input and information exchange.
- Communicate with vendors regarding material quotes and availability; perform material take-offs and develop parts lists.
- Maintain project documentation, technical drawings, and standard company design resources.
Qualifications
- Extensive senior-level experience in instrumentation and electrical design within industrial or plant construction projects.
- Proven expertise in developing technical drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment layouts.
- Ability to manage multiple project phases, meet time and budget constraints, and coordinate with various project stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, engineering procedures, and drafting software.
- Excellent communication skills for project meetings and vendor interactions.
- Willingness and ability to travel by air and automobile to various facility sites.
- Availability to work on-site at designated locations with required access to project sites.
- Demonstrated experience in project scope development, material requisition, and documentation control.
- Ability to coordinate with project teams including project managers, contractors, and suppliers.
Publishing Pay Range: $78.00 – $80.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
