Role Summary
This position involves supporting IT operations within a 24×7 environment, focusing on server, network, and application monitoring. The role requires hands-on technical expertise with Windows Server, network equipment, and monitoring tools to ensure system stability and performance. The incumbent will be responsible for diagnosing issues, coordinating service restorations, and communicating outage information effectively across technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Monitor server health and performance using tools such as SCOM, OpsView, and FireEye, providing timely diagnostics and escalation when necessary.
- Manage Windows Server environments (2012 R2 and newer), troubleshooting system issues and supporting server connectivity.
- Oversee LAN/WAN health, troubleshoot site-specific network issues, and coordinate with carriers and telecom providers for service restoration.
- Communicate outage updates and resolution status regularly to IT teams, ensuring clear and timely information flow based on severity.
- Engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to resolve complex server or network problems.
- Perform restart, service management, and basic diagnostics on servers and networking devices, following documented procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to routers, switches, and firewalls, including Cisco, Aruba, Arista, and Palo Alto devices.
- Monitor email and ticketing systems for break/fix issues, providing technical support as needed, including after-hours support.
- Analyze alarms and alerts from multiple monitoring applications to identify root causes and guide resolution efforts.
- Maintain documentation related to outages, diagnostics, and troubleshooting procedures for ongoing support and improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a 24×7 IT operations environment, such as a NOC or infrastructure support role.
- Proven experience with Windows Server (2012 R2 and newer), troubleshooting, and domain management (DNS, DHCP knowledge preferred).
- Familiarity with network devices including routers and switches, ideally with a CCENT certification or higher.
- Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting involving LAN/WAN, MPLS, and circuit problems.
- Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as SCOM, OpsView, FireEye, and related applications.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to internal teams and external vendors.
- Ability to analyze system and network performance data to identify issues and optimize operations.
- Technical proficiency with networking equipment from Cisco, Aruba, Arista, and security appliances like Palo Alto.
- Working knowledge of virtualization platforms such as vSphere.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling critical issues impacting multiple users, including after-hours support.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $20.00 – $30.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
