Role Summary
A project management professional is responsible for leading the deployment of Access OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) technology within a fiber access network environment. This role oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of the OTDR implementation, ensuring seamless integration with existing network operations. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing project timelines and budgets, and ensuring successful deployment from initiation to go-live.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the end-to-end project plan, timeline, and budget for Access OTDR deployment.
- Coordinate with network engineering, field operations, and vendor/OEM teams to align project scope, integration requirements, and deployment schedules.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and resolve issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track project progress and generate status reports for stakeholders and leadership.
- Ensure thorough testing, training, and documentation are completed prior to system go-live.
- Facilitate cross-team communication and collaboration to meet project milestones.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee outsourced activities related to OTDR deployment.
- Maintain compliance with project scope, quality standards, and organizational policies.
- Support troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts during and after deployment.
- Document lessons learned and best practices for future projects.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in project coordination, technical project management, or engineering operations support.
- Familiarity with fiber access networks and test/monitoring equipment; OTDR experience is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a technical environment alongside software and systems engineering teams.
- Strong organizational skills with multitasking ability across multiple workstreams.
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Proven vendor management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and at least one project or issue-tracking tools.
Publishing Pay Range: $45.00 – $51.00 USD Hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
