Role Summary
A Project Manager I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of internal engineering operations initiatives. This role involves working closely with software engineers, systems architects, and operations leads to ensure projects progress efficiently and effectively. The Project Manager I helps remove blockers, maintain project documentation, and facilitate communication across multiple technical teams to enhance overall engineering productivity.
Responsibilities
- Support the end-to-end coordination of internal engineering projects, including tooling improvements, platform migrations, process automation, and infrastructure upgrades
- Maintain and update project plans, timelines, RAID logs, and status reports to ensure stakeholder visibility
- Facilitate sprint ceremonies, project kickoffs, and recurring status meetings, capturing decisions, action items, and follow-up tasks
- Collaborate with engineering leads to define project scope, milestones, and success criteria
- Track dependencies across teams and proactively identify potential risks and blockers, escalating issues to senior project managers and leadership
- Assist with resource allocation and coordination across engineering squads to manage competing priorities
- Support intake and prioritization of new engineering requests and initiatives
- Ensure accurate project data entry and updates in project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or ServiceNow
- Contribute to process improvement efforts by identifying gaps and recommending solutions within engineering operations
- Provide support for project reporting and documentation to promote transparency and team alignment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 1–2 years of experience in project coordination, technical project management, or engineering operations support
- Comfort working in a technical environment alongside software and systems engineering teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and at least one project or issue-tracking tool such as Jira, Confluence, or Smartsheet
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies is preferred
- Experience supporting software development, DevOps, or IT infrastructure projects is advantageous
- Exposure to ITSM frameworks (ITIL) or change management processes is a plus
- PMP, CAPM, or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification is a plus
Publishing Pay Range: $25.00 – $35.00 USD Hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
