Role Summary
A senior data engineer position focused on building, maintaining, and extending a secure, compliant data and AI platform supporting federal background investigation efforts. This full-time role offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a high-trust environment, leveraging cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code practices. The senior data engineer will develop scalable data pipelines, ensure data governance, and support machine learning initiatives while adhering to government regulations and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and pipeline code that converts raw and synthetic data into governed, analysis-ready data products.
  • Extend the platform in accordance with architectural standards and best practices established by the lead engineer.
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless deployment into the production environment.
  • Monitor data quality, pipeline reliability, and system performance, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.
  • Apply data governance, cataloging, and access-control practices within established security frameworks.
  • Support data science and machine learning teams by delivering curated datasets and tooling.
  • Operate within security and compliance constraints such as FedRAMP Moderate, NIST 800-171, and handling controlled unclassified information (CUI).
  • Collaborate closely with engineering team members and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation of pipelines and processes.
  • Participate in security clearance processes and maintain compliance with government standards and protocols.

Qualifications

  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • 5-7 years of experience building and maintaining production data pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL processes, data pipeline development, and analytical data modeling.
  • Working familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP.
  • Experience with version control systems and CI/CD workflows.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and demonstrate dependable execution.
  • Strong collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 hourly

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from any approved location within the United States.
