The position works closely with engineering teams to perform board bring-up, power validation, firmware flashing, operating system recovery, diagnostics, and functional testing. The ideal candidate has practical experience with electronic test equipment, basic soldering, hardware troubleshooting, and reading schematics and datasheets. Occasional shift work, after-hours support, and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Build, disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble laptops, phones, servers, data center systems, development systems, and consumer electronic devices.
  • Replace power supplies, boards, debuggers, interposers, fans, cables, and connectors; resolve port and connector issues.

  • Inspect reworked boards for component placement, solder quality, correct parts, and proper power-on behavior.
  • Perform board and system bring-up checks using oscilloscopes and multimeters to verify power rails, power-on states, and basic functionality.
  • Conduct power supply validation, power sequence measurements, functional validation, diagnostics, benchmarks, overnight testing, and data capture according to engineering test plans.
  • Reproduce issues, capture logs, file bugs, maintain daily status reports, support EMC, thermal, and vibration testing, and assist with vendors, RMAs, inventory, shipping, and team training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant education, training, certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0–2 years of laboratory or hardware technician experience, including internship, co-op, personal, academic, or project-based experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using an oscilloscope, multimeter, and bench power supply, along with basic soldering skills.
  • Ability to read schematics and datasheets, identify probe and test points, support measurement setup, and inspect board rework before testing.
  • Familiarity with power supply testing, power sequence measurements, electronic loads, validation load boards, and basic board bring-up procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and confidence disassembling and reassembling laptops, phones, servers, data center hardware, and other electronic devices.
  • Experience flashing BIOS or firmware and installing or recovering Linux, Android, and Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Android command-line tools, including ADB, minicom, ping, and iperf, as well as basic scripting and networking.
  • Ability to explain hands-on hardware projects and testing experience in detail.
