Role Summary
This Database SME role provides senior-level expertise across enterprise database platforms and government-aligned security requirements. The position operates remotely and supports system architecture, database programming and administration, and disaster recovery planning. The Database SME will contribute to technical decision-making across Java/J2EE and database environments, including Oracle and IBM technologies. This role requires strong organization, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and experience delivering under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise across Java/J2EE, Oracle Database, and IBM DB2 environments
- Support database programming and/or administration activities for enterprise applications
- Maintain strong knowledge of IBM z/OS mainframe operating environments and database interactions
- Contribute to system architecture guidance for database-centric solutions
- Apply knowledge of SQL and Windows-based system environments to support delivery and troubleshooting
- Support disaster recovery strategy planning and validation for database and platform components
- Assist with disaster recovery testing and readiness activities, including recovery planning documentation
- Ensure compliance with government security requirements and internal security processes
- Coordinate technical work and milestones to meet project timelines and deliverables
- Manage multiple tasks concurrently while maintaining high-quality execution
Qualifications
- 8+ years of overall experience in highly specialized IT disciplines
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must possess an active IRS MBI Clearance
- Must have current GFE Methodology for Java/J2EE, Oracle DB, and IBM DB2
- 6+ years of experience in database programming and/or administration
- 4+ years of experience with IBM DB2 database management
- 4+ years of experience using IBM z/OS mainframe operating systems
- Strong understanding of government security requirements
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- Strong working knowledge of related technologies including SQL, Windows, COBOL, JCL, and enterprise disaster recovery strategies (as applicable)
Publishing Pay Range: $58.00 – $60.00 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
