Level 2 Network Engineer responsible for supporting a comprehensive 12-month End-of-Life (EOL) Network Refresh Program in the Louisville, KY region. This role requires hands-on technical expertise to execute the deployment, configuration, and replacement of Cisco-based network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless access points. The position demands a highly execution-focused approach, operating independently across multiple facilities to ensure seamless modernization of network systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, configuration, and replacement of Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points during network refresh initiatives.
- Conduct pre-staging, provisioning, cutover, and post-install validation activities following detailed runbooks and project plans.
- Troubleshoot and remediate network issues related to route/switch environments during and after deployment activities.
- Support network equipment lifecycle upgrades with minimal impact on business operations, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
- Travel to regional facilities within Louisville to perform onsite network tasks, including MDF/IDF support and physical layer troubleshooting.
- Assist with rack-and-stack, cabling validation, labeling, and physical infrastructure setup as needed.
- Document configurations, changes, and site-specific details in accordance with project standards and client documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, network architects, and remote engineering teams to meet milestones and deliverables.
- Adhere to established change management procedures, escalation protocols, and safety standards during deployment activities.
- Maintain detailed records of network configurations, updates, and site-specific considerations for project tracking and compliance.
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of practical experience in network engineering or network field services roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco networking technologies, including routing and switching (Catalyst, ISR/ASR platforms), VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP).
- Proven experience supporting network refresh, rollout, or migration projects.
- Demonstrated ability to perform onsite, physical deployment tasks with minimal supervision.
- Solid troubleshooting skills across Layer 1 through Layer 3.
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, implementation plans, and runbooks accurately.
- Valid driver’s license with the capacity to travel locally between facilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco certification (CCNA or equivalent).
- Experience working in utility, energy, or regulated industry environments.
- Familiarity with structured cabling standards and data center / IDF-MDF environments.
- Experience with ticketing and documentation tools to track work and configurations.
Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $57.13 Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
